Technical Guidelines For Submission

TEXT submissions can be sent in email message bodies, or in attachments in common text file formats (.TXT, .DOC, .RTF). Please do not apply any formatting to the text; it will be stripped in the conversion to the publication software. Exception: if any formatting is meaningful and absolutely necessary to the text, please apply that formatting (and no other) to your text, and note so at the top of the submission (e.g., "All of the Blue Wizard's telepathic dialog must be in italics."); otherwise, rest assured that the text will be formatted in professional style.

ELECTRONIC ARTWORK may be submitted for review in low-resolution format (e.g., 72dpi JPG). However, if accepted for publication, high-resolution non-lossy-format artwork will be required. It is highly recommended that artwork be prepared originally at high-resolution and saved in non-lossy-format (e.g., TIF). For Wayfarer production purposes, high-resolution is approximately 300dpi, and the maximum print area of Wayfarer will be 7.25" x 4.5" -- this yields a target image-resolution of 2175x1350 pixels. Digitally-created art should begin at this resolution; mechanically-created art (e.g., drawings, paintings) should be scanned at this resolution. From the high-resolution "master" art, a low-resolution "submission-quality" file can be easily created, but the reverse is not true: from low-resolution artwork, it is practically impossible to create a high-resolution print-quality version. If you are uncertain in any way about these technical image requirements, please email wayfarer@mysteryandmagic.com for guidance.

PHYSICAL ARTWORK -- drawings, paintings, etc. -- can be submitted by regular mail if the artist does not have access to a scanner. Package your originals carefully! because even postal insurance cannot replace lost or damaged originals. We will return them to you unharmed after scanning. Please email wayfarer@mysteryandmagic.com for guidance.

AUTHOR ATTRIBUTION can be to any name or nickname; however, we require a valid email address (even from a free anonymous email service such as HotMail), which will be published in Wayfarer so that readers can contact the authors directly. E.g., if you are Joe Smith, jsmith2@aol.com, you may submit material under your real name or under a nickname and anonymous email address such as "Shadow Joe, shadow_joe@yahoo.com." Please specify your desired nom de plume with your submission.
